Red Nose Day 2017 – Strand is a Super School!
Strand has been celebrating Red Nose Day with a vast array of activities. Spare change made a great ‘Copper Nose’ and cleared out those pockets! The school was ringing with laughter as the year group heats took place to see which acts had the honour of representing their year in the final of this morning’s show. During the Talent Show we learnt which teachers would be receiving a makeover with a twist. Mr Thorne has been busy selling tickets all week and staff have been getting more worried by the moment – it has been rumored that some heavy ‘counter buying’ took place with some teachers buying themselves out of trouble at the last moment! It’s been a neck and neck race but the ultimate winners (?) were Mr Ash and Miss Hayward. The makeover was stunning; special thanks to Mrs Branch, Ms Heath and Miss Weir who provided the outfits and expertise. We finished the assembly with Strand’s Got Talent! We watched eight finalists take to the stage and share their amazing talents. Well done to all who took part. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Red Nose Day celebrations, your efforts helped us to raise money for a great cause. Please check the website for some fantastic pictures of the day. In an added twist this year, Strand has been recognised as a Super School by Comic Relief for their outstanding sustained commitment to fund raising. Comic Relief is just beginning in the USA and today Strand hosted a group of visitors from the States to show them how it’s done! They were amazed at the wealth of talent on display, the whacky costumes and the commitment to ‘Do Something Funny For Money’! Thank you to Steve Allkins who organised today’s festivities.
