The Future of School Funding
You will have no doubt read in the press about the changes to school’s funding formula. The government has now launched the second stage of its schools National Funding Formula (NFF) consultation. It aims to address gaps in school funding between different geographical areas by using a new method to distribute cash. These changes to school budgets are due to take effect in 2018/19 and are predicted to have a considerable impact on school budgets. Councillor Tom Bruce, cabinet member for education and children’s services, has written to heads to ask that we bring this consultation to parents’ attention. The council and headteachers are opposing the changes to the formula and are keen that parental voices are heard. If you would like to find out more and add your voice to the consultation then please follow this link http://www.londoncouncils.gov.uk/schoolsfunding. The consultation ends on 22nd March 2017.
